The concert ended with the Nightfall in Camp, always a moving piece but especially so this year. One more time Javan and Aiden performed The Last Post, together this time, in harmony with the rest of the band playing Lead Kindly Light. They well deserved their standing ovation.
As well as accompanying the hymns for the morning service at the Cenotaph in Whaley Bridge Memorial Park, the band performed a selection of marches as the congregation assembled. Our two principle cornets played the Last Post and Reveille, Javan Carrington in the park and Aiden Quinn at the concurrent service in the Uniting Church. In the evening our Centenary Concert delighted a capacity audience, who after a cautious start and with a bit of encouragement from Sheila, joined in the community singing with enthusiasm.
