The rain didn't quite hold off for this years' Whit Friday Marches, but Whaley Bridge Band still had a great evening, playing at seven venues in Tameside and one in Saddleworth, despite being light on players this year.
We decided to play a couple of different marches this year. The band marched down to the theme from 'Blackadder' before playing our competition piece 'Unity' by Peter Foxhall, which was arranged for us by our conductor Robert Dixon.
The band would like to thank Robert for all his hard work in the run-up to, and at, Whit Friday, and also to Jane Walker-Cull for organising the transport, venues to play at, and the band in general!
Finally, big thanks to the players who joined us to help out on the day: Lou, Rhianne, Davyd, Mark, Duncan, Ian, Elliot and Anthony. For some of our newer players and guests this was their first Whit Friday, so we hope they enjoyed it as much as we did, and they are more than welcome back next year!
