Exam time again and we are pleased to announce that seven members of the learner/senior band have recently taken Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music practical examinations.
All passed comfortably with some taking exams for the first time. Alice Bell & Holly Slack both achieved passes in Grade 1 on Cornet whilst Alex Camenzuli gained a Merit in Grade 3 Trombone. From the learner band Helen Roberts gained a Merit in Grade 1 Eb Horn whilst son Dillon Roberts achieved a Merit in Grade 2 Cornet. The final accolades go to Christian Boon who gained a distinction in Grade 1 Eb Bass and Cerian Marsden who also achieved a distinction in Grade 4 Euphonium. Sincere thanks must go to Joan Gibson who through her support and has helped finance a library of examination books to be held by Whaley Bridge band which will be used by children for years to come. Thanks must also go to Marion Todd for accompanying all those who took exams. Below are Holly, Alice, Cerian, Alex & Christian with Joan. We had another fantastic year at the Whit Friday Marches in Tameside and Saddleworth. We went to nine villages and beat last years' results yet again - at Denton Cricket Club we won a prize for the highest placed fourth section band! Overall, we placed 31st out of 42 bands who played at Tameside.
Thank you to all our deps, and the family and friends who came to support us. Thanks also to our official photographer for the day, Peter Cull. You can view more of his photos of the day at his website: http://www.petercull.com |
