The band have endured a very sad and difficult time this year.
On 1st May Davy Jenkins passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Davy, husband of Lorraine, although playing with other local bands would come to Whaley Bridge with Lorraine and fill in wherever he was needed. Although primarily a trombone player he could be seen on euphonium, baritone and even on the odd occasion percussion!! We remember him fondly and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
In July Anne Oldfield sadly passed away. Anne initially came to our training band with her grandson Aiden, both playing cornet. As Aiden progressed he joined the senior band on the front row, Anne following on the back row although staying with the training band to help others. We miss Anne greatly however now welcome her daughter Gaynor into the band.
In September James Ruehorn (Jimmy) sadly passed away. Although not strictly a band member Jimmy began his banding career at Whaley Bridge and often came to help us out when he could, most recently at the concert in the park back in July. Jimmy was a true bandsman who will be sadly missed by those who knew him.
