Our summer visit to Cromford Court was not only a perfect evening, warm, sunny and no wind blowing our music stands over, but it was also the day of the eclipse. What a day to choose. Suppose day turned to night and we couldn't read our music in the dark? Our 7pm start was bang in the middle of the moon passing in front of the sun - should we delay for half an hour?
But we needn't have worried. Under the shade of the cherry tree we didn't even notice anything had happened. False alarm after all.
These days normal line up of players for WB Band is brass only, but tonight, for one night only, we were privileged to play with percussion, thanks to George's debut performance on the kit drums.
Although George he is a member of Macclesfield Youth Band, this is on tuned percussion, not the kit drums, so a new experience for him as well. Thank you, George, your really did make this a special occasion.
Thank you to the residents of Cromford for being a great audience and for the most welcome cream tea at the end of the concert.
