2nd, 3rd & 4th Days of Christmas

Our 2nd Christmas performance was in Buxworth at the lighting of their Christmas Tree.
Fortunately, it was a dry evening and the players who were unable to squeeze into the
Wendy House didn't get wet.

Saturday morning brought our 3rd Christmas play out, at our Band Room in the Village Hall in Kettleshulme for their Christmas Coffee Morning.

A pleasure to play on home ground amongst friends, especially when they are such excellent home bakers - tea and cake much always appreciated by thirsty bandsmen after a blow.

A few hours off, then down to Whaley Canal Basin for the lighting of the Whaley Bridge Christmas Tree.
Sadly, the weather had taken a turn for the worse, and it was a wet and windy evening.
Never the less, the lantern procession braved the elements down the tramway, and joined in the Nativity carol singing with enthusiasm.
A wet night, but how lucky that there was tent a where the Band were playing.
Lucky for some that is - here are the cornets and euphoniums, warm and dry under cover.....
...... and here are the not-so-lucky, bass, trombone and horns, exposed to the full force of the wind and the rain.
A dual role for Sheila tonight, playing as well as conducting.  Multi tasking par excellence!

Even though it's not seasonal music, it was definitely a night for Singing In The Rain.

Christmas officially started for Whaley Bridge Band with the Tree lighting at Chinley. The residents turned out in force at Squirrel Green for carol singing along with Chinley Primary School Choir.
Then round the corner to St Mary's Church for more from the choir, and of course the "Chinley Special" version of the Twelve Days of Christmas, now in it's 15th year.

Remembrance Day

A fine day in the Memorial Park as the residents of Whaley Bridge paid their respects to those who gave their lives for king and country.

An outstanding performance by Holly, our principal cornet who sounded the Last Post at the appointed hour. Although Holly had played the Last Post at Bridgemont and Furness Vale before, this was her debut in the Memorial Park, which is much bigger event and a whole new ordeal.
But she wasn't phased. Note perfect and not event a hint of a waver.
Well done, Holly, we are so proud of you!
